Why is Psychedelic Integration important?

This question has no easy answers. Every journey is different, so the outcome will require different support. No matter what the need is, having a guided healing post journey will help with everything from working through dysregulation, to understanding what is presented during the journey.

How does psychedelic integration work?

It works by recognizing what is most needed and then having the resources to meet those needs. Almost all integration work deals with the nervous system in some capacity.

Sometimes in cases of trauma work we need to spend a lot of time on the body with massage, yoga or other techniques that tap into the wisdom of our bodies. By accessing the nervous system in various ways we can create lasting change.

If we can connect to our pain in new ways that aren’t frightening, and by creating empowerment where we feel loss of control can be done with various forms of bodywork.

Sometimes the best integration is done with talk therapy, EMDR EFT or even just leaning into the support networks we have with our friends, family and community. Connecting to the people we love in more meaningful ways can be very healing.

A good integration coach will help you find the right approach, and will have the resources to ensure you have access to what you need to fully integrate your journey.

How long does integration take?

Integration can begin as soon as you start coming out of the medicine’s effect, and are able to talk about what you experienced. It is advisable that you take your time landing, and absorbing what you have experienced. The first two weeks are crucial to your healing journey and no major life decisions should be made.

After about 6 weeks you may have integrated completely, but sometimes the integration work may require a few months. This is why having an integration coach can be so helpful. You are more likely to gain the most during the precious days and weeks following a journey with someone who is trained to know what tools and techniques would be most helpful for you.

What about Microdosing?

Microdosing is finding a lot of validation in the field of mental health. There is quite a bit of research being done to study how these medicines can be used to help ease symptoms of depression and anxiety. Unlike SSRI’s and other antidepressants they don’t have the same negative (and sometimes tragic) side effects.

Integration of microdosing with coaching can be as simple as finding a few daily activities to work in harmony with the microdose. It may also be beneficial to work out a strategy of how to use your newfound energy in a way that allows you to experience your life the way you wish you could.
